CE conformity

The CE marking makes it clear that the manufacturer of a product such as chainflex® cables complies with the applicable EU directives. The CE marking is not a seal of approval or quality mark and was created for trade in the European Economic Area.

The CE certification is now based on more than 25 EU directives as of 2020.
The CE certificate is a kind of voluntary commitment.
The CE mark on a machine and the corresponding signature confirms that this machine was planned, designed and built in accordance with the applicable standards.
The CE marking is part of further regulations. These include for instance the Machinery Directive, the Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Directive, the Low Voltage Directive (often referred to as LVD), RoHS substance restrictions and protective equipment etc.

CE conformity is based on a complex risk assessment.

Risk assessment - the iterative procedure consists of:

Check the intended use of e-chain® and chainflex® cables for instance
Analysis of conceivable, foreseeable misuse
Determination of relevant and valid standards for the production of chainflex® cables and e-chains®
Determination of specific requirements and conditions for the use of chainflex® cables
Research of the responsible "notified body", for example, the accreditation body DAkkS (institute for the surveillance of all certification, testing and inspection bodies)
(Laboratory) tests of the chainflex® cables and e-chains®
Data evaluation
Creation of the technical documentation and translation into target languages
Creation of the certificate/provision for download
Affixing the CE mark

Small sign, big effect

When it comes to growth, German mechanical engineering has not only struggled since the trade barriers and partly homogenized world markets. In the past few years, industry experts have therefore mostly spoken of a sideways trend and less of growth. In 2018, mechanical engineering and equipment construction were able to break away from the unusually long lateral period and began to grow again. Machine prices were often six figures, and costs for operating manuals &, other documentation and the CE marking are often minor in comparison. However, any fiddling with the latter can have disastrous and expensive consequences.
