In the food processing industry, machines must be cleaned daily with chemicals to prevent contamination. Even the smallest moisture-collecting area can cause problems. For this reason, many operators rely on components that comply with the hygienic design guidelines. igus®, as a member of the EHEDG, has developed the first linear guide system made of FDA-compliant materials, e.g. the high-performance polymer iglidur A160, high-alloy stainless steel and an inner part that can be easily cleaned.

Tested in the igus test laboratory for use in the real world


In the largest plastics test laboratory in the industry, iglidur® plain bearings and drylin® linear technology are put through their paces. Among other things, they are tested for resistance to media (e.g. cleaning media), and for continuous loading and quiet operation. The results are entered into our tools to calculate service life and allow for precise predictions regarding their durability.
Upon request, igus performs customer tests to check product use under specific conditions.
