Overview

Packaging fruit and vegetables - like all of food technology - is subject to the most stringent hygiene requirements, which are reflected in the choice of individual machine components. In selecting liner bearings or lead screw drives for the numerous format adjustments in the packaging units, it is important to ensure that components require no lubricants and are resistant to corrosion and chemicals used in regular cleaning. Other requirements include absolutely no maintenance, a long service life and low noise levels during operation.

Used products and application examples

In packaging machines - whether for film or cardboard packaging - hygienic, maintenance-free format adjustments are required at a wide variety of points. The stations and the motions plastics used are shown based on a fruit packaging machine:

To adapt the tray for the packaging material, drylin R bearings made of iglidur J are used. They ensure lubrication-free bearing support on the stainless-steel shaft.

Multiple drylin SLW 1040 linear units enable operating personnel to quickly reconfigure the packaging system for other package sizes and formats.

SHT linear modules connected by a toothed belt work well for automatic output. drylin NEMA stepper motors are used to drive the ejection pusher drive.

Fruit and vegetable film packaging

This machine packs lettuce, cabbage, or broccoli in film. Susceptible metal bearings were replaced with durable drylin linear bearings.
